Itinerary
Day 1: Amman Airport – Dana
Arrival to Queen Alia International Airport. Visa upon arrival. Transfer to the hotel in Dana, overnight.

Day 2: Dana – Feynan
After breakfast in Dana, we will descent from Wadi Al-Nakhil to Feynan with our local guide.
This day, you will not only get a taste of some authentic Arabic coffee with the Bedouins, but you will also try your hand at making some yourself. Their coffee is an essential part of the Bedouin traditions and they serve it on almost every occasion (weddings, funerals, or simply when the family gets together in the evening).
During the trek, we will be accompanied by a local guide and a cook, this team takes care of cooking and pitching the tents as well. Our team will prepare the lunch during the trek, while upon arrival to the camping area, you will participate in preparing the dinner. This way, you are able to learn how to make some traditional Jordanian meals and cook for your local hosts.

Day 3: Feyan – Umm Al-Amad – Al Forn
Breakfast at camp, after which we will climb Umm Al-Amad and visit the copper mine while climbing with the help of a local guide. According to UNESCO “The Umm al Amad copper mines and underground galleries are an outstanding example of mining structures dating from the fourth millennium BC (UNESCO – link: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/326/) ”
After our visit to the mine, we will immerse ourselves into the herding life. One of the best ways to get to know the local culture of the area, is to spend a day with a local shepherd grazing the family’s goats in the wilderness of the region. We will have lunch together with the shepherd and learn all about their way of life.
Continue down to Al Forn camping area, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Forn – Gbour Al Wahidat
After breakfast at the camp, we will walk to the tombs (Gbour) of Al-Wahidat, Mount Baja (New Stone Age) and visit Mount Haroun.
We will meet with some Bedouin families in the area. A local Bedouin will show you the process of making Kohl, the Bedouin eye makeup that is believed to strengthen eyesight, protect against eye ailment in addition to its cosmetic and aesthetic uses. We will also invite local girls to share our bread lunch together and participate in making the kohl from surrounding trees.
After our kohl experience, we will visit Little Petra, and spend the night near the ancient city of Petra, dinner and overnight in the camp.

Day 5: Little Petra – Petra
Breakfast at camp, after which we start our visit of Petra from the back road near the Monastery, visit Qasr Al-Bint and the church. Lunch at the Nabataean Tent Restaurant inside the site. To show our support for preserving this historic site, we will participate in a clean up activity of the area. We will also clean up any trash that we come across along our walk to and from Petra.
Return to your camp at Little Petra, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Little Petra – Petra
After breakfast in the camp, you will be transferred to the visitors’ center to visit Petra from the main gate, visit the treasury, the amphitheater, Wajhat Street (Façade Street), the palace tomb, and the Byzantine church.
For lunch, we will meet with some Bedouins who will join us for our boxed lunch and will take us to try our hand at grazing sheep with them. Since you have already seen it done once, you can now take your sheep herding skills to the next level!
Back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Petra – Dead Sea – Madaba
After breakfast in the camp, we say goodbye to our trekking days and you will be transferred to the Dead Sea. We will participate in a clean-up of the beach with some Jordanian volunteers. After this activity, we will enjoy a nice lunch together with the volunteers. The rest of the day is free for you to now enjoy a fresh clean beach and the Dead Sea.
Transfer to your hotel in Madaba for the overnight.

Day 8: Madaba – Amman Airport
After breakfast at your hotel, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
